Assess
We use the Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3) framework to assess an organisation's current capability and future aspirations. From there we can develop and implement effective roadmaps for improvement.
Maturity Model
The maturity levels support organisations through a transition from an immature state to a mature and capable organisation. This maturity provides an objective basis for judging quality and solving project or programme performance issues.
P3M3
The P3M3 Assessments are delivered in conjunction with our partner Wellingtone who offer the most intuitive and transparent project and portfolio performance assessment. PPM and PMO Maturity Assessment combines our experience as an Axelos P3M3 Consulting Partner with our in-depth data analysis and expertise.
Our Assessment Process
Review - We review a selected suite of projects to analyse how they compare to defined PPM methodology, guidance, and templates.
Ask - Interviews with PMO personnel, Project Managers, Programme Managers, and other key stakeholders to understand each perspective.
Analyse - Our consultants present a draft PPM/PMO Assessment Report and recommendations are discussed with Senior Leaders.
Affirm - Our consultants feed input from Senior Leaders into the report before finalising and preparing for next steps.
Project Governance Assessment in Action
Morgan Sindall appointed PDCS to undertake an Agile Readiness Workshop
The Organisation
Morgan Sindall is a group of specialist businesses, delivering construction and regeneration across the UK for the public, commercial and regulated sectors.
They operate through five divisions located throughout the UK with European presence.
Problem Statement
“Waterfall project delivery is inefficient and introduces problems for small projects.
Projects are run by project managers, deliver managers, and accidental project managers, all of whom need a light-weight project methodology to support successful project delivery.”
Challenges
- IT resources are pulled into BAU and unable to define the actual days worked on a project.
- High level design documentation by Technical SME’s is a problem area.
- Business resources lack time to review and test new software and processes.
- No dedicated IT testing team resources.
- Business changes scope during development.
- Business resources and IT resources are based in multiple locations, limiting opportunities for face to face project meetings.
The Solution
Morgan Sindall engaged PDCS to undertake an Agile Readiness workshop with key PMO, Project Management and Leadership of the Group IT function to assess their maturity in adopting Agile as a Project Delivery and Governance framework to
- Understand what is Agile Project Delivery?
- How does a PMO manage Agile Project Delivery?
- How does change management work with Agile Project Delivery?
- How exactly does Agile Project Delivery work?
- How does this work in a hybrid working environment?
Testimonial
“The Agile workshop was very useful and expertly run by Emma. Thank you for arranging that for us.
What it did highlight was a potential in our business analysis and requirements gathering in some specific software deliveries. Meanwhile we are working on the hybrid agile project delivery lifecycle that will work here.”
